We arrived home today to find Mike and a coworker hard at work. As I hadnt been here since Friday morning there was much new to see. The cement was poured for the footings last Thursday and the base of the deck (as you'll see in the pictures below) has started to go in. Getting this level is the most important part of this piece of constuction so Mike and Gerry were spending extra time today making sure all is plumb and level. Tomorrow they'll be back at it and will also have a crew up on the roof replacing the area over Suite 60 (the area right above the carport for those unfamiliar with the names of the bedrooms here).
Michael Wang had 8 EIGHT! kitchen/back of house options for us to look over this weekend. With every options that was presented we declared that one our favorite--in other words we loved them all and will be hard pressed to choose a direction. A big piece of the decision tree for us has to do with what we do with the back wing--whether we take it down entirely and rebuild something much smaller back there (but have to deal with capping the old foundation/space) or if we take down the second level and use the existing footprint for a family room off the back. We'll try to get those plans up here so people can weigh in with their thoughts and make it a "vote" of sorts.

Tough to see/read but here is one option we particularly liked.
